Through the studios, lectures, books, writings and travel I try to share yoga with as many people as possible. - Sujantra

About

I was born in San Francisco in 1962 and moved to San Diego in 1980 to attend UCSD. I am the founder and owner of the Pilgrimage of the Heart Yoga Studio. I first became interested in hatha yoga as a young boy and used my practice of asana (the yoga postures) and pranayama (breathing techniques) as a stepping stone into the “inner aspects” of yoga: concentration, meditation and contemplation.

During my high school years yoga, mediation and running were my tools for maintaining peace and balance.

I have authored five books on eastern philosophy, success motivation and meditation. Two of my books were used by major universities to teach wellness, stress reduction and comparative religion. Over the past 30 years I have delivered over one thousand lectures on meditation and yoga in over 25 countries.

I opened the Pilgrimage of the Heart studio in 2006. These days I focus on teaching meditation and kirtan although over years I have taught Yoga I, men’s yoga and pranayama. I encourage students to practice both at home and at the studio.

I have studied meditation with spiritual teacher Sri Chinmoy since 1980 and am an ACE certified Group Fitness Instructor.
